VES Students on the Slopes

On January 19th and 20th , a group of thirty-two fourth, fifth and sixth grade Vilseck Elementary School students headed to the slopes at the Ochsenkopf Ski Area in Bavaria. The event was sponsored by the Student Council and the Adventure club .

Beginning skiers spent the two days participating in ski lessons given by the Vilseck Outdoor Recreation team of instructors. The first day the students learned all the basics; everything from carrying the skis to walking in skis and then finally turning and stopping. By the end of the second day, students that were so nervous the day before were cruising down the mountain screaming with joy. The more advanced skiers were able to take the two days to practice their technique and go on some more advanced runs.

Every student had a great time and enjoyed the thrills of success. The most popular question asked by students at the end of the two days was, "Can we go on another ski trip?"
